MCSO's goal is in protecting the public and officers from opioid overdoses. The antidote can reverse the effects of an overdose for up to an hour, but anyone who administers the overdose reversal medication in a non-medical setting is advised to seek emergency medical help right away. The spray units can also be used by Public Safety Professionals who are unknowingly or accidentally exposed to potentially fatal amounts of fentanyl from skin absorption or inhalation.

Mendocino County's Health and Human Services, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, Substance Use Disorders Treatment (SUDT), assists participants, who have substance use disorders, to create and maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, free of alcohol and other drug abuse. In order to assist participants to make positive changes in their lives, staff utilize evidence-based curricula. All treatment staff are certified or registered by the State of California.

Since 1974 we have been providing services to the recovery community starting as the Mendocino Alcohol Project. The Ukiah Recovery Center, a Ford Street Project, was established in 2015, continuing to provide withdrawal management, outpatient treatment, and residential treatment services, while adding another program; a sober living environment in a new larger site. This site allows for continued growth and increase services to our community. Our goal is to empower the clients we serve by providing them with the skills to see their own potential through daily classes and individualized sessions. We strive to help our clients create the life they want to have using compassion, attention to the individual’s specific needs, while celebrating their diversity and differences. A Counselor will work with you to create an individualized program to address the specific needs and barriers that have kept you repeating unhealthy patterns.

The Al-Anon program is based on the 12 Steps adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous which we apply to our lives, one day at a time. Although a separate entity, we cooperate with AA, and consider it an important resource for understanding alcoholism.

Co-Dependents Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships. The only requirement for membership is a desire for healthy and loving relationships. We gather together to support and share with each other in a journey of self-discovery — learning to love the self. Living the program allows each of us to become increasingly honest with ourselves about our personal histories and our own codependent behaviors. We rely upon the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions for knowledge and wisdom. These are the principles of our program and guides to developing honest and fulfilling relationships with ourselves and others. In CoDA, we each learn to build a bridge to a Higher Power of our own understanding, and we allow others the same privilege. This renewal process is a gift of healing for us. By actively working the program of Co-Dependents Anonymous, we can each realize a new joy, acceptance and serenity in our lives.
